{"id":2245,"date":"2013-05-19T09:07:27","date_gmt":"2013-05-19T07:07:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.campodicarlo.it\/en\/?p=2245"},"modified":"2015-10-30T09:08:07","modified_gmt":"2015-10-30T08:08:07","slug":"the-etruscan-coast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.campodicarlo.it\/en\/the-etruscan-coast\/","title":{"rendered":"The Etruscan Coast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Etruscan Coast is a long narrow stretch of coastline along Tuscany\u2019s coast that goes <strong><strong>from Livorno to Piombino<\/strong><\/strong> and includes parts of four internal city areas: <strong><strong>Collesalvetti<\/strong><\/strong>, <strong><strong>Sassetta<\/strong><\/strong>, <strong><strong>Suvereto<\/strong><\/strong> and <strong><strong>Campiglia Marittima<\/strong><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The name of this beautiful coastal area is tied to the <strong><strong>presence of the Etruscan civilization<\/strong><\/strong> that inhabited this area from the start of the 9th century BC (way before the Romans), as so many archeological sites deminstrate today.<\/p>\n<p>At the <strong><strong>Archeological Park of Baratti and Populonia<\/strong><\/strong>, in the Gulf of Baratti between San Vincenzo and Piombino, you can nowadays visit one of the most important sites, including a large necropolis, in this area left by the ancient Etruscans.
