Baratti: Etruscan History and the Sea on the Etruscan Coast

The earliest remains date back to the 9th–8th centuries BC, when the first structures associated with Populonia’s aristocratic families appeared in the acropolis area. Later, during the Roman period, the city was enriched with important public buildings, including temples, thermal baths and sanctuaries.
