Castagneto Carducci, perched on a hill, offers beautiful views towards the coast and the sea. In its historic centre, you can visit the Castle of the Counts della Gherardesca and the Church of San Lorenzo, among the village’s oldest landmarks.
Not far away lies Bolgheri, famous for its picturesque Viale dei Cipressi (Cypress Avenue), immortalised in the poetry of Giosuè Carducci. The village, centred around Bolgheri Castle, is also at the heart of one of Tuscany’s most renowned wine-producing areas.
Populonia and Baratti
Populonia and the Archaeological Park of Baratti and Populonia offer the opportunity to combine a visit to an ancient village with the discovery of Etruscan history.

Further south, Piombino overlooks the sea with its historic centre and promontory facing the Island of Elba. The town is also a departure point for reaching the island and continuing your journey through the Tuscan Archipelago.
